The gaming industry in Florida is just starting to heat up, and the 3rd annual Florida Gaming Summit is poised to offer the perfect setting for plenty of education and discussion. To be held Oct. 8-9 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino here, hundreds of experts from the gaming industry, Indian country, state politics, tourism and law are expected to attend.

“In the past 12 months, Florida has become one of the most exciting emerging markets in the country and we expect that trend to continue,” noted Joseph Weinert, Senior Vice President of Spectrum Gaming Group, conference co-producer along with Ascend Media Gaming Group. “There’s a definite change from the anti-gaming stance of the previous administration, and many of the proposals put forward with respect to an expansion of gaming have serious potential. The Summit provides an opportunity for industry insiders and observers to come together for meaningful dialogue.”

The conference opens with an evening reception, followed by an intensive daylong program of six conference sessions. Topics include tribal gaming, the political outlook for gaming statewide, a look at the performance of parimutuel facilities in Broward County, an overview of the slot machine market and a view from Wall Street. As part of the tribal gaming offering, a special presentation will be made by Alan Meister, manager of Analysis Group, Inc. and author of the widely acclaimed Indian Gaming Industry Report. He will discuss the economics and scope of tribal gaming – and Florida’s place in this segment of the industry.
